Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA ): Alternating cycles of pressure adsorption and depressurization regeneration

2026-09-09
Latest company news about Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA ): Alternating cycles of pressure adsorption and depressurization regeneration

A PSA system typically consists of two adsorption towers that alternate between adsorption and regeneration to achieve continuous nitrogen production.

  • Pressure adsorption

Compressed air enters the adsorption tower, where oxygen molecules are preferentially adsorbed by the carbon molecular sieve, and the gas output from the top of the tower is high-purity nitrogen.

  • Reduced pressure regeneration

When the carbon molecular sieve becomes saturated with adsorption, the pressure inside the tower decreases, oxygen molecules desorb and are discharged, and the adsorbent regains its activity.

By alternating the operation of the two towers, an uninterrupted nitrogen supply can be achieved. The entire process is fully automated and requires no manual operation; nitrogen gas with a purity of 95% to 99.9995% can be produced simply by applying electricity.

III. System Design: Making Separation More Efficient and Stable

To fully utilize the performance of carbon molecular sieves, the nitrogen generator has undergone several optimizations in its structure and control:

  • The uniform airflow distribution design ensures that the air fully contacts the adsorbent within the tower , improving utilization efficiency;
  • PLC automatic control system precisely manages adsorption and regeneration time, and monitors flow rate, pressure, and purity in real time;
  • The skid-mounted integrated structure makes the equipment compact and space-saving, and it can output qualified nitrogen within 20 minutes;
